Cash Flow Management See a cash shortfall weeks before it happens

We plan weekly receipts and payments, stress-test the impact of late collections and give management time to act before cash runs short.

What is cash flow management?

Cash flow management is the planning and monitoring that shows how much cash will come in and go out over the coming weeks and months — and when a squeeze is likely. Profit is not cash: a profitable business can still struggle to pay its bills because of collection periods, inventory and payment terms.

At the core of this service is a 13-week cash flow model built with the direct method, anchored to the bank balance and updated every week. Each week the forecast is compared with actuals and the variances are used to sharpen timing assumptions.

Who is it for?

  • Fast-growing companies Businesses whose sales are rising while receivables and inventory absorb more and more cash.
  • Seasonal businesses Manufacturers, traders and service companies that face cash pressure at certain times of the year.
  • Companies selling on long terms Businesses with long collection periods due to credit sales, dealer networks or project progress billing.
  • Companies managing credit lines Management teams that want to plan short-term funding needs in advance.
  • Typical sectors Manufacturing, wholesale, construction and project businesses, logistics, retail and services.

COMMON CHALLENGES

The cash problems we see most often

Month-end surprises

Shortfalls are spotted at the last minute in weeks when payroll, tax and loan payments coincide.

Late collections

A few weeks’ delay from key customers derails the whole payment plan.

No reliable cash forecast

Cash is planned monthly and roughly, and never compared with actuals.

Unclear payment priorities

Which supplier or loan to pay first is debated from scratch every time.

Growing working capital

Inventory and receivables grow faster than sales, locking cash into the business.

Frequently asked questions

Why 13 weeks?

Thirteen weeks is roughly a quarter: short enough to keep weekly detail, long enough to capture payroll, tax and debt-service cycles. A monthly projection can be added for the longer horizon.

How is this different from the cash flow statement?

The cash flow statement looks back at the past period. The 13-week model looks forward and forecasts weekly receipts and payments.

Can our own team maintain the model?

Yes. The model and the weekly update routine are designed for your team; we run the updates together during handover.

Is this a crisis management service?

No. It is designed to bring cash discipline in the normal course of business. If the debt structure needs to be reworked, that is scoped separately under Financial Restructuring.

What data do you need?

Bank balances, receivable and payable ageing, loan schedules, payroll and estimated tax payments, and expected orders or progress billings are enough to start.
